Go Fly Kite At Marina Barrage

It's the holidays! And if you are thinking of activities to do (other than insane BBQs all the time!) it's good to take a ride down to Marina Barrage this Summer season. In fact, the weather is warmer now so you can predict (and get your prediction 99% correct) that the rain won't come anytime SOON. So grab your picnic basket and time to head to Marina Barrage!

I broke the mug-for-exam spell and headed to Marina Barrage a couple of weeks before my first paper (last month) for a chill out session with Z. (& thanks dad for the car)

I have been pestering him to bring me to Marina Barrage for MONTHS.

And there I go!

Marina Barrage Tip Number 1: Must get the most colourful kite BUT ditch kites that come with Pokemon or Ultraman designs! (you will see why later)

I know these canvas material kites costs only like $3 last time (maximum) but now, one costs up to $6-12! Rip off? YES, but the experience is just priceless. *hates cliche like this*

Marina Barrage Tip No. 2: Plaster as much sun tan lotion as you can + hold on to your hair or else it will swish swosh around you because the wind UP there is tornadoish.

Everyone who goes to Marina Barrage will be treated to absolute stunning view of the Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer too!

You can see dark angry clouds brewing! >:(

Can't help but notice crazy numbers of cranes beside the Marina Bay Sands

The view is really pretty from UP the crazy swirly trail. And speaking of that...

Marina Barrage Tip No. 3: No bicycles or roller blading! (because this is NOT a blown up scale of a skate ramp!) Veh dangerous!

And this will also mean that if you are planning to bring Gramps to fly his Wau (traditional Malay Kite) then remind him its gonna be a hell of a walk because the best Kite "site" is right at the end of the swirly trail!

P/S It's a good place to bring your dog for a walk also, but don't let your dogs chase the kites because some kites are just....

SO massively bizarre!

For example...
 This!

Marina Barrage Tip No.4: Get the biggest kite if you are serious about showing off your 'pull the thread' art of kite flying!

It's so huge that its tentacles actually landed on my head and tickled me shitless. Quite scary. I was worried that its crazy tentacles might wrap up my whole kite!

It was a whole lot of fun that day, kite flying ,snorting at other kite fliers who didn't get to fly their kite as well as ours, sun basking, puppy ogling (I LOVE puppies) and the most important thing was we lovebirds had spent a great time together. (thanks again dad for the car).

I was REALLY HAPPY.

I wouldn't mind going back there some time soon! *hint* This of course wasn't our first time at Marina Barrage. We were here YEARS before when all there was, was just a plain soccer field and lots of steam boat restaurants around. We ARE that ANCIENT.

Ha...so blissful.....
