Crispy Crepes
ALRIGHT, I have a HUGE problem... Not wanting to exaggerate further or kill more of my nearly extinct brain cells, kindly help me to confirm how do you pronounce this word : Crépes ?
Everywhere I go to, shops and restaurants spell it CREPÉS.
No wait, SOME restaurants spell it as CREPÉS. What! With the crazy slant line above the adjacent 'E'! I need assurance on how to say it right. Every time I hop to a crépes -however you pronounce it NOW I will correct you by the end of this blogpost; you can thank me later- counter and to order my desired crépes, I will hesitate a moment, relax my tongue and practice saying it in my heart AND my head BEFORE spurting out saying something that sounded like Crap i.e Can I have 1 Crap *insert a grimace face here* with double scoops of chocolate ice creams.
Oh horror. Sometimes I think the guy behind the counter is secretly sniggering at me. AHYHOO..
I decided to correct myself for future's sake if I really want to continue enjoying my crépes for the rest of my life. Here is a good reference that I made and read:
Crêpe is pronounced by the English as 'crape'
Crêpe is pronounced by the French as 'krep' (e is pronounced same as in the e in 'wet')
Ok, so if I feel like being a French lady, I can say : Let's have CRAP but,
if I want to feel like an English lady, I shall say : Let's have CRAPE (pronounced as scrape without the S)
Whatta!!!! I'd rather say CRAPE instead of crap any time. To add to this, I can formally introduce you to 1 CRAPE hotspot in Jusco Bukit Indah. If you are going Jusco Bukit Indah this weekend, do try out the crispy CRAPE that they have at their ground 1 (opposite Watsons). I like the fact thats it's huge like a fan, crispy, flavoured (in assorted flavours like chocolate oreo, banana with peanut butter and many more) and cheap! Mine cost only RM3.50, feeds well for 2~3 person and is chocolate based sprinkled with almonds. Must try!
