Wth Amy Cheong

Amy Amy Amy Cheong. In a ludicrous attempt to counter her air headiness regarding the noise coming from her nearby "void deck", she nonchalantly commented about the unworthiness of malays getting it on with the wedding by assuming that we cannot afford a proper wedding. Phish.

Oh wells, bare and back, I won't say that this is entirely true. But considering that there is a rapid transition of Malays actually staging their wedding elsewhere (non void deck la sey!) in the last decade or so. Bravo. It proves that we can do and can afford a good wedding ala hotelier or so.

It is pitiful when people are oblivious about their racial senses when it comes to comments. Trust me, I had my fair share on oblivious comments from friends who cursed and swear about the wedding going co currently with their erm, revisions.

Look it this way, I know the torment because I use to live in a chinese populated area whereby funerals are a bi-monthly occurrence. Like it or not, out of respect, I won't curse the dead. I had to go one big round over and under different blocks to avoid walking pass the dead's tent. I had to put up with chanting till the middle of the night. I had to brave myself and pray that the dead's soul won't look upon me when I head home late from school. And these will continue for the next 3 days or so. But these things had no hinge on me.

These occured, passed on and eventually gotten erased from my mind without a heave from my side. I treasure the memories I had, because these are the things that you can only see or experience in Singapore.

Not forgetting the late night getai shows, the clanging and chinese percussion playing when they have a prayer procession (?) It all adds up to my already-teeming memories of where I used to stay.

It brings back some sad memories wishing that I am close to home more than anyone else would want to.

If you are a non-malay, please open your heart and mind. I might be just 1 of the few who actually enjoyed, tolerated, respected all the different cultures, without  bulge... because the more you listen...the more you will learn.

Adiu.
