Tips on Taking Care of your Perm

Hey girls, it's moi. I'm back with curly wurly hair again! I trotted to the saloon last 2 weeks to get a nice NORMAL perm -yes, not DIGITAL perm- which made me look like a "cheena girl" and super old like grandma please. *shrugs thoughts off*

Anyhoos lovelies... this is my 2nd time doing it so yeah i felt confident that the golden -not yet- locks will stay.

Let me whisper to you a few tips ya:

1) MOUSSE *DO THIS WITH DAMP HAIR*
MOUSSE not MOUSE, is the secret to lasting endless and glamorous curls. Ofcourse we are not talking about immaculate curls that EVA LONGORIA has please. That is a work of a hairstylist -bloody obvious! HMMPH. Get hold of 'Strong Hold' mousse (Good Look brand is good enough, but currently I am using Sunsilk Mousse *new*) Press a lump of it to your palm, tilt your body and head to the side as if you are side streching (such that now your hair falls "off" your head) and crunch your hair with the mousse, randomly.

Crunch from Bottom to Up. If your curls look flat, than this is the magic to voluminise them.

2) TWIRLING
Some girls prefer to twirl their hair when its wet to make the curls come together and stay curly. I think this should not be done because you will end up with a TIGHTLY CURL PART on both left and right side of your hair only. Looks like piggy tail already lah. So farni. Instead, if you are dying to twirl them with your hands, then do so to separate parts of the hair & NOT ONLY 1 PART! -so ridiculous- & take note of the "direction of curl" You twirl wrongly = uncurling your hair. Kekeke.

3)HAIR WASHING
Washing of hair (during bathing) should not be done for the first 2-3 days of perm. My theory is that the chemicals (!!) haven't seep fully into your hair etc so if you wash your hair, then you are washing off the chemicals too. Anyway, most saloon will wash your hair FIRST before perming, so you should not worry about waking up with stenched hair the next day.

4)NO COMB PLEASE
Throw away your combs when you have permed hair. I mean, you are just destroying the beauty of the swirls when you comb your hair! Gosh.
In fact, you won't ever need a comb! Personally, I only hand-comb my hair after washing it (when it was longer). For short/shoulder length perms, WANT COMB FOR WHAT?

Follow by these tips and your curls can last up to 6 months. Trust me, permed hair is easier to manage than rebond hair!

I have got no pictures of my glorious locks yet, but surely, I'll post them up when I am free.

Kisses,
Faa

  1. Hey Fateha, I'm just wondering what happened with the digital perm you got. I meet few people who are as unsatisfied by it as you and I'm dying to know.
