Public Transport Secuterity Command
(ignore blog title)
Spic-and-span, grey barrets with well-starched uniform and shiny combat boots to complement the garang (fierce) look.
WOAH
"I've seen more garang-looking ones before"
I remembered my first encounter when they sauntered pass me -about last year when they first established this new unit- I thought they were Gurkhas. But , ok I know, Gurkhas don't wear barrets right? Or do they?
They wear nice big hats for all that I know. Pardon me for the lax terms that I used when describing uniforms etc. I'm so noob at this.
Gurkha
They are so stealth! You don't even hear them walking behind you!
Well, that is not the point here.
Somehow, to think that 4 people from this new TransCom unit can actually increase security and security-ness in MRT stations and bustops seems rather... impossible.
Or is it just a psychological thing that the Singapore government wants to make Singaporeans feel safe. I mean, we can always hire job hunters who are seeking a job in the security department (isn't that why we have security guards, EVERYWHERE).
But no, they decide to come up with a brilliant, young and energetic Home Team unit for the sole purpose of increasing public transport securtity!
I bet commuters find them "useful". Whether you are lost or needed help to carry those basket of meat and vegetables , you can depend on TransCom.Or not.
Do you feel safer when you see them around? Or you try to stand as far as possible because you have this policophobia (this is really THE WORD).
For me, I pray they don't come too close to me. Some things are just better to look at afar. (:
