Chinatown : Dresses, Temples and Scuba Diver Helmet

Thumbelina headed down to CHINATOWN for a sight-seeing expedition yesterday ((Saturday)).

Right, I was lying. I was there for a shopping spree. Sight-seeing? That was obviously second priority! Nevertheless, I lounged my Nikon around to snap as much pictures as I could because I was actually hunting for things to buy!

Fantastically, I managed to juggle both my camera bag and my handbag with me while I desperately seek high and low for "things that I have been searching for in a long time". Hiak, updates on that later!

It was stupendous! I found aplenty of interesting things in Chinatown itself and I cannot help but find myself AMUSED the entire time I was there. In malay, the saying goes ... "like a deer that enters a kampong" or in Singdarin language, I was just being dang sua ku 井底之蛙 (<-- WTP (whatthepuck)? I don't know what's this but I copied it from Wikipedia)

Decorations; Temple Street

Do they have these decorations EVERYDAY? How come our Malay Geylang only have such road decorations during the 1 month of Ramadan?! *envy*

Still in Temple Street

Z was parking the car, so I had to make a quick snap. Hence the picture of the monkey -that wiggles it's body non-stop when there's solar energy- was caught on in the picture too. Picture looks mad artistic no? My camera is ohsogood.

Pagoda Street

One of my latest love hunt for casual summer dresses/maxi dresses! Very breathable material plus they are drop dead pretty. I can spend the entire (no exaggeration!) day there but I managed not to tear the entire shop down by raiding it senselessly and instead, I went home with 2 pieces handpicked by my man himself. Shopping is made to be 10000 times easier with him around ^^.

...and we walked some more

and I came across this..

an INDIAn temple in CHINAtown

and it gets weirder...
an ancient scuba diver helmet!

And the thing I love most about Chinatown is the freshly painted shop houses. Most of the shop houses are painted with contrasting colors (maybe so that customers can differentiate the shops easily)  I find them really unique and so attention grabbing that I had to stop in my steps and just admire the buildings and how can I miss snapping a picture of it? Here you go!

Shop houses

Chinatown is really beautiful. Plus the people were friendly. 1 guy (presumably the worker) called us to eat at his restaurant that comes with HUMONGOUS billboard for the menu , showing plates of Chili Crabs and you know how weak I can be where crabs are concerned? *dreamy eyed*

What an eventful day! If you are freaking bored WTP, cut some slack and take the train down (if you are lucky *like me* you can get someone to drive you there hohoho jealous not??) to Chinatown and take a look around. And of course if you are photography mogul looking for great 'vintage places' for set pictures, head to Chinatown la. They have plenty of empty streets/lanes for you to test shoot.

I will be back to Chinatown.Confirm wan.
