A Letter From Mr Low Thia Kiang
Labour Day greetings everyone! (Like the banner above? I realized I look like a house agent)
I've never been so eggcited in my whole 22 years of living before. Finally the voting and political rallies MAKES sense to me. Other than those trucks blasting Vote For PAP which I think is F-U-N to wave at - although I actually wave back with a Worker's Party flag -. Seh Paiseh, I was a kid, I didn't know what was which mah.
Honestly I grew up in an humble neighbourhood of the opposition's party. OH YES our houses are not like crazy castles with lifts that bounce us up and down the levels in like what, a jiffy? Oh yes I do remember when we finally have a lift upgrading, the whole flat was making a big -extremely big- hooha , maybe some old folks even shed tears of joy, but yes, it was a lift upgrade but the whole flat to so thankful for that.
We didn't have squeky clean lift lobbies macam Pinnacle @ The Duxton. Opps, but we bear with it. OH there were lesser cockroaches over the years though. Eventually the cockroaches gave up laying eggs at our area and our place was clean!
I remembered writing a letter to Mr Low Thia Kiang. I swear to you, he replied back. Ok maybe it was his secretary BUT I got back a reply, and it wasn't a slip short Thank You for Writing We Will Get Back To You Within 2 Business Days. It was a long and personal letter which I don't intend to share with you, cos too close to my heart HAH! But the point is, he replied. I am not so sure if, IF you email your erms gahmen people, they will reply you meh? They will care meh? Ok MAYBE they will, after 2 business days.
I look around my ex-neighbourhood, Hougang. And I see, we don't need a fancy study corners (those place reserved for snogging and chi ko peks to ogle at ah mahs or young gers) We don't need sheltered walkways directly to our homes. We do not need bustops every 500 metres and we are happy. Happy as a neighbourhood.
I remember Mr Low himself will be at the voideck of 321 Hougang Ave 5 every Wednesday to attend to every problems or queries that the public has. Be it a complain, a request, a suggestion or just a chat, he will be there. Imagine, if he can really go to that extend to be WITH the public, how much more he can do ?
I won't say that other Party's a not as good. But I would salute him for being very people-orientated.
May the best party wins!
