Fifa World Cup 2010: Sing,Dance,Cheer With Me!
World Cup Bad-assness WAKA WAKA Style
It's official. Shakira's track - Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) is the sole and official track for
You guys might not know it but I always got a thang for Latinas and Shakira is a no exception. Weighing my obsession, that is also how I gotten my blog title Lips Don't Lie. It's from Shakira's hot single Hips Don't Lie.
I am Shakira in the making
Why I Like Shakira's MV (music video) better than Other self-proclaimed Fifa World Cup 2010 Songs:
(pictures are print-screen from Waka Waka (This Time For Africa) )
1) A good "classic" way of modeling for the MV, featuring football players slow-mo, ball-kicking and doing celebratory jumps. Gives the video a very warm and familiar feel.
2) Something different where victory always happens at the end of every competition, this MV slots the victory scene right at the 30 seconds break into the song, encouraging the feeling of happiness even before viewers get to view the entire video.
Gold mummay! GOLD
3) The MV features Shakira, surprisingly not dressed in tankini and not plastered with heavy duty make up base. Instead, this pint-sized Latina donned a Bohemian looking top with crazy sexy black string skirt with hair fashioned in loose curls. Also, instead of 10 carat ear rings, she was spotted with colourful ornaments hanging precariously in her hair.
A nice look so as Shakira does not look too different from her co-dancers as being the only blond bombshell in the MV puts her on an outstanding position already. Keeping everything minimal, that's a nice change.
4) It would be redonkeylous if a crazy catchy song like this is not accompanied by ass shaking dance moves. I love the roll-hips-roll move accompanied by a clasped hand. Somehow, the clasped hand is symbolic as it means "Hello" or "In your honour" (respect) in some culture.
Not to mention the dance moves are easy and sheesh if I can do it, so can you. *roll-hips-roll*
This is the roll-hips-roll part
5) There were 2 scenes of "touching the heart" gesture. Really symbolic, as the gestures were both done by 2 soccer players. Again, this gesture is symbolic and it also represents "Hello" or "Welcome" in some cultures.
6) Here's a very interesting zoom-out. The colour splendour, the variety of cultures and kids to join the dance too. Also spotted are the lions in lion dances, a Korean dressed woman and many other cultural costumes can be found here!
7) The "Kallang Wave" shot. A definite must have. Must love!
I remember doing my Kallang Wave for National Day
8) As she sings ..."from east to west" the camera zooms to these 2 ladies. Most probably an American and a African. They danced together as the African lady sings her 6 verse. Nice blend. Like Yin and Yang.
9) My favourite shot. Simply because the Lion is in the background. (Lion not referring to Singapore per se, but lion as in Asia)
10) The MV ends with a clasped hand and Shakira's flawless face and her V-Chin. (WOOTS) A very nice welcome song to kick start Fifa with an oomph.
Nevertheless, check out K'Naan The Waving Flag and Akon Ft Keri Hilson Oh Africa
MUST WATCH!
