Singapore Blog Awards Official Interview

1.       Tell us about yourself in 50 words.

I am 21 years old, ongoing some serious blogging championship. I am *takes deep breath* an avid reader, a sports girl wannabe, a crazy writer, an almost typical girl-next-door that you will love, the girl with the golden hair, a serial blogger, a sucker for romance and a passionate lover, musicaholic & a strong believer that heh-vun is a place on earth.

2.       How long have you been blogging and why did you start blogging?

I started blogging in 2006 when I was 17 years old (and still a JC kid) and that is worth 4 years of blogging credits up to date! I have always loved writing (not essays) but personal revelations and recounts of my life. It started with this cheesy idea of writing a blog together with my boyfriend of 7 years (he opened the BlogSpot account) but happens that he sort of loathe writing so I end up writing it myself and most of my posts were dedicated to him, at that time. But now I've conquered the blog (it is no longer ours, but MINE all MINE) and now I not only blog about my daily musings, but about politics *gasps* and daily news that goes about locally. Oh, have I mentioned that I have a penchant for LOCAL & vely Singaporean news?

3.       How do you feel as one of the finalists in the Singapore Blog Awards? What do you think is your chance of winning?

Honestly, I'm lost for words but am very touched by this kind gesture of OMY to recognize my budding talent in blogging *wipes tears*. THANK YOU for this very rare opportunity OMY. At the same time, this gives me the realization that people ARE actually reading my blog and most importantly people LIKE what they READ. I appreciate all the readers that have wriggled their way into my tiny blog home(page) and a HUGE THANK YOU to those who had rallied for me. It really means a lot to be one of the top 10 finalists because honestly I'd never knew I can come this far. Being recognized for something that I am passionate for (ie blogging) is like having 10,000 hands patting on my shoulder. It feels real good.

I am scanning OMY finalists’ website and after squinting my eyes so hard, I realized I still don't have a green star, yet, on my thumbnail. But hey, I think it's alright because different readers prefer different sort of blogs to read. But I am very sure my blog will appeal to the younger generation who are looking for a fresh face blogger (that's me) who can muse at the simplest things in life and at the same time juggle school, work and blogging as a full time hobby. I think I have a great chance of winning because I'm a ... young and youthful smart girl. *shy face* Everyone wants that, right?

4.       Who do you think are the strongest bloggers in the category you are nominated for and why?

I wish I can point the finger at myself, but that is just appalling. *laughs* Well, I always thought that guys (no offence!) can't blog well. But looking at the nominees I'm blown away by their ability to express freely in their blogs. Not to mention their pictures are always cropped to perfection! I would say that the daddy bloggers are like 2 contenders fighting to win the golden belt whereas I am the spectator. But honestly I equally fear the other bloggers too. But in the spirit of competition, I wish all of them equally best of luck.

5.       What would you like to say to your blog readers and those who voted and supported you?

Dear readers and voters, thank you gah-zillion for rooting your utmost support for me and my Lips Don't Lie blog. My blog is like my baby, so if you think it's the cutest baby you can spot around here, please vote for her. This is not a baby voting contest, I hope I don't confuse you. Voting ends 30th June so click click click and continue voting for me till the clock strikes 12 midnight. I love you all and I will blog harder for all of you!

6.       What is your most controversial blog post and why?

I am the inquisitive girl from your block (pun intended), so I’m always on the hunt for interesting stories to brag or blog about. But this particular blog post has to be the most popular one among the collection of 500+ blog posts that I have. http://www.fateha.net/2008/02/looking-for-job-durex-wanna-hire.html Looking for a job? Durex Wanna Hire "Testers". The link was even featured on another person’s blog (she’s quite famous, no not XiaXue) and ever since then I had people talking about it. I was only 18 then and blogging such XXX – rated things were still new to me.  But I love to share everything in my blog. If it’s news, then it is worth spreading.

7.       Have you ever gotten into trouble or got rewarded for blogging? Elaborate.

If I make it through OMY as the grand champion for EASB Best Individual Blog award, than that will be my very first and solo win on my blog of records. I would say I am a cautious blogger and writer. While I might be heaving with angst as I type a blog post, I don’t let my emotions overrun my thoughts because I don’t want to be a B****Y girl. I don’t want to get in trouble , although that is the best way to get fame overnight. I’d want be rewarded for my insightful blog, rather than a hair-ripping and heart-wrenching blog that only upsets people. Other than that, I disguise my blog post titles so I don’t get into trouble with the Go@vern&me$$nt. Told you I’m smart!
